Mistake of the Week #5

I’ve heard it hundreds of time and who knows? One time might have been from you….

I didn’t lose anything this last time because it was my birthday/anniversary/first vacation in years/groundhog day/national ear-pickers association meeting….. and I naturally just ate too much.

So my mistake of the week is this:

WHATEVER FOOD IT IS – IT WON’T BE THE LAST CHANCE YOU EVER HAVE TO EAT IT!!

My step-mother puts it this way: “it ain’t the last Coke in the desert.”  Yes, cake is good, yes, an all-you-can-eat-buffet is fun, but you know what?  If you pass this one up, there will always be another one, another chance to indulge.  So don’t use the excuse of a birthday or anniversary or special party to go plumb crazy with indulgence.  Indulge a little bit, then revel in the weight you DIDN’T gain the next day.  If you find out later that you’re suffering from acute cake deficiency, you can always stop by the WalMart bakery on the way home and get a cheap sheet cake.

A possible idea during this season of bite sized goodness: chewing gum. Occupying your mouth with something that makes it difficult to eat a piece of chocolate or candy on the fly might help. The slight downside is that chewing gum can stimulate appetite a little, but it does freshen breath. A twofer!
