It is so easy when we run into the storms of life to revert back to where we found comfort before we got the band. FOOD! We used food as an emotional tool. Some of us became overweight not because of overeating at mealtime but because we used food to comfort us through the times in our lives we felt out of control. I have given several of you the scenario of the horse and wagon on the road of life and we run into a storm, if we are on a diet the wagon goes into the ditch the horse runs off, and the diet is over. If we have a band on that same road and we run into a storm, we may lose a wheel but the wagon is still in the road and the horse is waiting, we put that wheel back on and continue our journey. It is hard sometimes not to revert back to our comfort food. If you don’t feel you can handle making choices, or controling portions, it would be easier at that time to go back to liquids, ie.. protein meal replacement, Slimfast, water and your sugarfree jello and small salad. This helps you to see you can still be in control even though there may be things out of your control. When the storm is over you don’t have to deal with a weight gain, and feeling lost as to how to restructure to start over, or go on a diet you have been on before. We don’t need a diet, we have the ultimate tool to help us thru those storms and come out on the other side in control.
