You’ve Got a Lap Band – Now Rock On!!

So, you went to this big seminar thing….learned all about the surgery, what it takes to get you insurance to cover, how much it costs if you are not insured, what requirements you have to meet, do you just have to be overweight or do you have to have an illness along with the weight.  You went through all the steps, went through the weeks of liquids, went through a surgical procedure, followed by more liquids, had your first fill or two………..then what???

Where are you….we miss you….and we want you to finish what you started!!  I have been to several health fairs and have come into contact with MANY people that have the band….. a few who still have some to lose…..many that have reached their goal. I say…..COME SEE US!!!!!! I had one person tell me they were embarrassed to go back because they had felt like they had not lost enough……all the more reason to come in for a fill. It’s a surgically implanted tool…YOU have control of the tool!!  I’ve had a couple that said they knew they had about 50 more to lose but they were “satisfied” now…..only to keep talking and find out they were a cash pay and economics would not allow them to come in……..call and talk to Susan….you never know what can happen until you try.  I’ve seen many that have reached their goal…..COME SHOW US!!!!

You LAP BAND patients are the best way we have of getting the word out about the Lap Band….there are so many people that only get to DREAM of having this surgery.  We want you more than satisfied….we want you happy, healthy and fulfilled.  We have the monthly support groups to assist you with just about any issue you can imagine…..short of getting your kid a date for the prom or taking care of your dog while you are away…..although that could be arranged :) (the dog not the prom).  Please do not let issues go unspoken.  Together we can find a way!!

On the other hand….if you are happy healthy and fulfilled at your goal or even with a little excess I say…Strut your stuff baby and tell them where you got it!!!! Just don’t forget to keep in touch….I just love going  “OMG YOU LOOK FABULOUS!!!!”—Meet me at Wadley November 9th at 7pm for support group—LoriWh

Don’t be just satisfied. That is what I told myself when I had lost the first 100 pounds. I thought then if I don’t lose another pound I will consider my weight loss a success. Ha! Let me tell you how fabulous it feels to hit your dream goal! I have lost 209 pounds and looking back at those -100 pics I would be so sad to know I did not take this ALL the way. Don’t settle! You don’t have to. I am living proof.

You are so very right: no-nonononononononono-no don’t settle! If you shoot for your ideal weight, then even if you fall a bit short you’ll still be better off than if you settle for some weight that is all that you “think” you can attain. Think you can be perfect, then the sky’ll be your limit :)

I have been scheduled to have surgery on 12/9. Any suggestions on what I should be doing to prepare? I have been on Jenny Craig and have lost 31 pounds so far. Are t here any tools I need to get to help me be successful? Cooking aids etc? Any suggestions out there?

    Pam,
Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Your surgeon should be able to provide a plan for your pre-operative diet. Ask them for their specific plan. During the 2 weeks before surgery we have our patients go on a very low calorie diet which consists mostly of meal replacement shakes and salad. No dressing, bacon bits, or other additives to your salad :)
There are so many different things that will help you in your journey with the Lap Band.
Rather than list them here I encourage you to go through our prior blog posts here on this site and ask any questions you have.
We cannot offer specific medical advice but are happy to answer general questions and we are very happy to hear from someone having surgery somewhere else! It makes us happy to be able to extend our reach of education.
    Good luck!
